Compensation Plan FAQ’s

What happens if I don’t maintain my activity?2025-05-17T04:05:29+00:00

To remain in good standing, you need at least 30 MCR over a rolling 12-month period (this requirement is waived for your first 12 months), have paid any fees that may be due, and remain in compliance with all terms and conditions of the Associate contract. If you don’t meet this requirement, your downline will be reassigned to the next upline in good standing.

How are commissions paid?2025-05-17T04:04:58+00:00

Commissions are paid monthly based on the previous month’s activity.

What can I earn from my Customers’ rebates?2025-05-17T04:03:04+00:00

If qualified, you can earn the New Member Bonus on purchases made by your Customers who are in their Fast Start Period, and you can earn a Level 1 bonus on purchases made by all your Customers, regardless of how long ago they enrolled.

How do I qualify to earn bonuses?2025-05-17T04:07:07+00:00

Each bonus has specific requirements to earn that bonus. The New Member Bonus only requires you to be in good standing, the Level Bonuses require you to be Active by having at least 10 MCR, and the Generation Bonuses require you to have a Paid-as Title of Emerald or higher.

What is the difference between a Customer and an Associate?2025-05-17T04:02:08+00:00

Customers join to shop and save money. Associates can shop AND earn from building a team.

Key Terms

  • Active

To earn bonuses as a Zen Rewards Associate, you need to stay "Active" each month. This simply means maintaining at least 10 MCR (Member and Personal Customer Rebate) through the combined purchases from your Customers and yourself.

  • Career Path

Your Career Path is your roadmap to success with Zen Rewards! It's a series of achievement levels – from Associate 1 all the way up to President's Team – that recognize your growing skills and accomplishments. Each step on this path brings higher earning potential and greater leadership opportunities.

  • Career Title

Your Career Title is the highest rank you've achieved – it's like a badge of honor that stays with you even if your monthly performance varies. Once you earn the title of "Emerald" or higher, it remains your Career Title until you either advance to a higher level or go through the requalification process.

Important to know: Leaders at Emerald rank and above must requalify for their Career Title by being paid as that title at least once every 12 months. If you don't requalify within 12 months, your Career Title adjusts to match your actual performance in that period.

  • Customer Only Volume (CUST_QV)

This measures the combined shopping volume from all your personally enrolled Customers during a monthly period. It's a key component of your MCR (Member and Personal Customer Rebate) and shows how well you're serving the savings needs of those Customers who joined through you.

  • Downline

Your downline includes everyone who has joined Zen Rewards through you or through anyone in your team, creating a family tree of Associates and Customers. These are the people whose shopping activity can contribute to your title qualifications and bonuses as you help them succeed.

  • Enroller

Your Enroller is the person who introduced you to Zen Rewards and helped you get started. When you bring new people into the company, you become their Enroller. This relationship is important because it determines who earns the New Member Bonus on early purchases. If an Associate is cancelled or reverted back to a customer, then all of the people they enrolled are reassigned to the next Enroller in the upline. Therefore, over time, you may become the enroller for people whom you did not originally introduce to Zen Rewards.

  • Getting Started Period

The Getting Started Period is the first three months (enrollment month plus the next two full months) when an Associate or Customer joins. This is used by the New Member Bonus.

  • Good Standing Status

To remain in good standing, you need at least 30 MCR over a rolling 12-month period (this requirement is waived for your first 12 months), have paid any fees that may be due, and remain in compliance with all terms and conditions of the Associate contract.

  • Group

A Group starts with someone in your organization who is paid as the Emerald rank or higher. It includes that person and everyone below them until you reach another qualified Emerald (or higher) leader. When there are no other qualified Emeralds between you and another Emerald in your organization, then they would be a 1st Group. When there is an Emerald below them, that would be the start of a 2nd Group, and so on. This structure is crucial for the Group Bonus available to advanced leaders.

  • Leg

A Leg is a branch of your organization starting with each Associate on your first level. Strong legs are essential for meeting Outside Rebates requirements and building a balanced business. Customers do not form separate legs. For example, if you have three Customers and five Associates on your first level, you have five legs.

  • Level

Levels show the relationship between yourself and the Associates and Customers in your downline. Associates and Customers you personally enroll are your Level 1, as well as any that were assigned to you after their enroller cancelled. Associates and Customers they enroll become your Level 2, and so on.

  • Member & Personal Customer Rebate (MCR)

MCR includes the combined QV from the purchases made by your personally enrolled Customers and yourself during the monthly period. Beginning with Associate 2, each title requires MCR.

Please note that you are not required to make purchases yourself as a condition to qualify for the Zen Rewards compensation plan. Your required MCR may be met entirely by your Customers’ purchases. However, if you choose to make purchases yourself, those will also contribute to your MCR.

  • Outside Rebates (OR)

OR measures the total Qualifying Volume from your team, excluding your single strongest source of volume (whether that's your MCR or one of your legs). In the event one or more sources have the same amount of QV, only one of the sources will be considered the strongest source for purposes of this Title requirement. The OR requirement helps you to build a balanced, healthy organization.

  • Paid-as Rank

Your Paid-as Rank is what you qualify for each month based on your actual performance. This rank is effective for the entire month, regardless of what day you met the requirements. For example, if you meet the requirements for Executive on May 25th, your Paid-as Rank for the entire month of May will be Executive. While your Career Rank represents your peak achievement, your Paid-as Rank can fluctuate monthly and determines your bonus percentages for that period.

  • Personal Group

Your Personal Group consists of you and everyone in your downline until you reach another person paid as an Emerald or higher rank, which is where a new Group begins.

  • Promote (Promotion)

You promote when you meet all requirements for a higher Career Title within a single month. Your promotion takes effect from the first day of that month, meaning if you qualify on the 15th, you're considered that rank for the entire month and earn at that level.

  • Qualified

Being qualified means you've met the specific requirements to earn a particular bonus or rank for the month.

  • Qualifying Volume (QV)

QV is the point value assigned to each purchase that determines your qualifications for ranks and bonuses. It's typically 55% of the original rebate amount and provides a standardized way to measure shopping activity across your organization.

  • Reward Volume (RV)

RV is the dollar value used to calculate your commission payments. Every purchase generates both Qualifying Volume (QV) and Reward Volume (RV). Typically, these amounts are the same.

  • Team Rebates (TR)

TR represents the total Qualifying Volume from your entire organization, including all Associates and their Customers. This comprehensive metric shows the full strength and activity of your business.
